My Brush Collection

The most important tool for a makeup artist is their brush collection. After experimenting with many brands and products I finally have found the 10 brushes for my kit. Mac makes several kinds of brushes and collections but the following ten are what I use in my kit...
1. MAC 129 Powder/Blush Brush
I use this for applying blush, bronzer, blot powder, and setting powder. It is medium sized for more precision.

2. MAC 169 Large Angle Contour Brush
I use this for applying powder for highlighting and contouring.

3. MAC 130 Short Duo Fibre Brush
I use this for blending in liquid foundation or any powder.

4. MAC 195 Concealer Brush
I use this for applying concealer under the eyes or on the face.

5. MAC 210 Precise Eye Liner Brush
I use this for applying gel eyeliner.

6. MAC 318 Retractable Lip Brush
I use this for applying lip primer and lipstick for color and in place of lip liner.

7. MAC 208 Angled Brow Brush
I use this for applying eye brow powder and eye shadow under the eyes.

8. MAC 219 Pencil Brush
I use this for applying eye shadow under the eyes and for blending. I usually use this brush last.

9. MAC 286 Duo Fibre Tapered Blending Brush
I use this for applying eye shadow everywhere because it has a pointed end for precision like for highlighting under the brow but it's big enough to use for the whole eye lid. I will usually start my eye shadow process with this brush.

10. MAC 275 Medium Angles Shading Brush
I use this for applying eye shadow in the edges of the eye lid for a smokey eye look or for above the crease for contouring.

This blog post is also the first in my "What's in My Kit" series of blogs so stay tunned for more posts! Feel free to post any comments or questions!

Dark Spot Correction

Women with all skin tones face the problem of dark spots on their skin from acne or other scars. As a South Asian woman with a medium complexion, my dark spots would show as dark brown. To correct dark spots I recommend the following products: Murad Ance Products, Clinique Dark Spot Corrector, Neutrogena Rapid Tone Repair, and Garnier BB Cream. The first step in getting rid of dark spots is making sure you don't get any more ance! I have personally tried several different systems for ance treatment including Clinique and Proactive but the system that has worked for me consistently has been Murad. My second step was using the Clinique dark spot corrector. I used the product twice a day after my normal skin routine, concentrating on areas with spots and in about two months I saw a major difference. After using the product for about a year, about 90% of my dark spots were gone! I decided to then switch to Neutrogena because I wanted my skin to test a new product and only had to use this product once a day at nighttime. I have definitely seen a consistency in my skin complexion with this product and as a added bonus it smells heavenly. Lastly, I recently started using the Garnier BB Cream which gives me a flawless color. This tinted moisturizer also provides protection from the sun which helps prevent dark spots. Some people use BB cream as a primer but I personally use it as an every day foundation because of the spf and finish on my skin.

Products: Garnier BB Cream
Clinique Dark Spot Corrector
Murad Ance Kit
Neutrogena Rapid Tone Repair

My Favorite Mac Lipsticks!

My two favorite MAC lipsticks are Hang-Up (left) and Gel (right). Hang-Up is a cremesheen finish which means it's creamy and has a high shine, perfect to layer under lipgloss. It has a deep red berry color so its perfect for that red lip look without looking to bright. Gel is a frost finish so it is very shimmery and has a high color pigment. This color is my go to for a shiny nude look. I sometimes like to layer a pink nude stain under it for a pinky look or layer it on top of Hang-up instead of lipgloss for a brighter red look! What's your favorite shade? Feel free to post comments or questions

Products: MAC Cremesheen Hang-Up  A22, MAC Frost Gel  AC1

Happy Spring Season!

Spring is finally here! Time to get out those colored jeans and bright eyeliners. A trend I am loving this spring is the colored ankle jean paired with a tuxedo jacket or flowy collared blouse. For shoes to match you can either go comfy with the high strappy gladiator look or super chic with high ankle strap pumps. Also lots of florals and stripes this season! A trend to 'watch' is the double strapped leather band look for watches and bracelets. Below are some pictures of my spring favorites.
